5 Reasons Why New Homebuyers Love Rochester Hills

Community Highlights

Rochester Hills was ranked one of the best places to live in the United States in 2017, but that’s no surprise to us! Between the top-notch school district and surrounding amenities, there are an abundance of reasons new homebuyers are being drawn to Rochester Hills.

We love Rochester Hills, and homebuyers and owners do, too – here’s why.

1) Great schools. Niche ranked Rochester Community School District in the top 15 school districts in Michigan and gave the district an overall A grade. Niche gave the district A grades in teachers, clubs and activities, and healthy and safety, and a A+ grade in college prep and sports. All three high schools within the district have at least a 97% graduation rate, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 findings.

2) Bustling downtown Rochester. A few miles from our Bloomer Woods community in Rochester Hills is downtown Rochester, one of the most popular downtown areas in Southeast Michigan. Shop or dine at one of the plethora of shops, restaurants, or businesses (more than 350 in all – 85% of which are locally owned!), or attend one of the events held throughout the year. During the holiday season, join thousands of spectators to see the show-stopping light display, when the buildings downtown are draped in more than one million holiday lights. In the summer and fall, visit the Downtown Rochester Farmers’ Market, located on the corner of E. Third and Water Street and open every Saturday from May through October.

3) Community events. Downtown Rochester isn’t just a place for shopping and dining! It also hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Learn about the history of the Rochester area at the Heritage Days Festival in May, take in a movie outdoors at Movie in the Moonlight in July, eat your way through Art and Apples in September, and – of course – catch the grand Tree Lighting Ceremony over Thanksgiving weekend.

4) Cider mills. Visiting cider mills is a favorite autumn pastime for most Michiganders. Rochester Hills is located near many of the area’s best cider mills, including Yates Cider Mill, Paint Creek Cider Mill, Rochester Cider Mill, and Goodison Cider Mill. With that many cider mills around, it’s perfectly acceptable to live off a steady diet of cider and donuts from September through November.

5) Outdoor recreation. Rochester Hills is home to and surrounded by an abundance of outdoor recreation opportunities. Bike, run, or walk along one of the nearby trails, including Paint Creek Trail, Clinton River Trail, or Macomb Orchard Trail, or swim at Spencer Park, located just three miles south of Bloomer Woods. One mile north of Bloomer Woods is Bloomer Park, a 200-acre park with picnic areas, a sledding and tobogganing hill, hiking and mountain biking trails, play structures, and a velodrome. No need to stress about working off the extra calories from your cider and donuts diet!
