In 2019, O’Fallon was recognized by Money Magazine as one of the nation’s 100 best places to live – and not for the first time. This isn’t a surprise to us, though! O’Fallon’s prime location, top-notch schools, and recreation opportunities are among the many, many reasons to love this area. Below, we’ve compiled a list of our top five favorite things about O’Fallon, Missouri.

1. The great location.

O’Fallon is located just outside St. Louis, near major thoroughfares including I-70, I-64, and Highway 364. This prime location offers an abundance of opportunities for its residents, whether you’re heading to work in Wentzville, hitting the shops and restaurants in St. Louis, or exploring historic downtown Cottleville.

2. The excellent school district.

Children in O’Fallon attend the highly rated Fort Zumwalt R-II School District. The majority of schools within the Fort Zumwalt district received above average ratings on GreatSchols.org, earning high marks in test scores, teachers and staff. The district also received an A grade on Niche, excelling in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, and college prep. Fort Zumwalt R-11 School District is the largest school district in St. Charles County, also servicing the cities of St. Peters, Dardenne Prairie, St. Paul, and parts of Wentzville.

3. The rich history.

The town O’Fallon was founded in 1856 by brothers Nicholas and Arnold Krekel, who named the town for St. Louis railroad man John O’Fallon. Since its city incorporation in 1912, O’Fallon has been a city of entrepreneurship and business leaders, eventually adding tourism to the mix in the 1990s. The area is home to a variety of historical attractions for residents and visitors to explore, including the Historic Herald Home, Log Cabin Museum, Zumwalt’s Fort, 9-11 Memorial, and Veteran’s Memorial Walk.

4. The local events.

Between the O’Fallon Jammin’ concert series in the summer and Celebration of Lights in December, O’Fallon hosts an assortment of events and festivals for its residents and visitors. Upcoming events this fall include Food Truck Frenzy and Pumpkin Plunge on October 16, Mom-ster Mash on October 23, and the 20th Annual Make A Difference Day on October 24. 5. The recreation opportunities.

There’s no shortage of things to do in O’Fallon! During the summer, families in O’Fallon love to ride the waterslides at Alligator Creek Aquatic Center, or experience the area’s first Adventure Playground at O’Day Park. If you’re looking to take advantage of fall’s cooler weather before hunkering down for the winter, spend the day playing disc golf, walking the trails, or enjoying a family picnic at one of O’Fallon’s many local parks.
