We love the city of Ann Arbor – its abundant shopping, mouth-watering restaurants, entertainment and nightlife, and the college atmosphere at the University of Michigan. Even with life looking a little different these days, there’s still so much for families to do in this desirable city. Check out our list of family-friendly activities in the Ann Arbor area.
- Connect with nature at one of the nearby parks. We’ve probably all had a little too much screen time in the last five months – guilty – so what better way to unplug than by visiting one of Ann Arbor’s numerous parks? Walk the Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum, go fishing at the Dolph Nature Area, or take a family hike at the Bird Hills Nature Area. Short on time, but still need to escape to the outdoors? Take a picnic to one of the many city parks. And, speaking of picnics…
- Get takeout from one of your favorite Ann Arbor restaurants. We know – picking a favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor is virtually impossible. Whether your family is craving deli from Zingerman’s, Mexican from Chela’s Restaurant & Taqueria, German from Metzger’s, or steaks from Knight’s Steakhouse, grab your favorites to-go and head to the park (or your backyard!) for a family picnic. Cheers to a break from cooking!
- Hit the links at one of the area golf courses. If a family golf outing is up your alley, you’re in luck! Ann Arbor is home to a multitude of golf courses, including the University of Michigan Golf Course, Huron Hills Golf Course, and Polo Fields Golf & Country Club.
For a limited time, new homeowners at our Trailwoods of Ann Arbor community in Scio Township will receive a one-year social membership to Polo Fields Golf & Country Club with the purchase of their new home! The social membership includes unlimited use of the clubhouse, fitness center, pool, and tennis courts, as well as six rounds of golf. Contact our sales team to learn more.
- Paddle down the Huron River. On these hot summer days, the water calls to us. Loudly. Answer that call – but stay close to home – and pack up the swimsuits, towels, and sunscreen and head to the Huron River! Boat rentals are available through the City of Ann Arbor, including one-person kayaks, two-person kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and paddleboats. Reservations are required, so be sure to plan your day on the water in advance!
