Team Lombaldy Raises more than $62,600 for St. Baldrick’s Foundation

News & Announcements

This week, team members from Lombardo Companies have bald heads and full hearts.

On Saturday, March 11, Team Lombaldy’s team of construction coordinators, maintenance technicians, property managers, office staff, trade partners, and homeowners participated in the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser and shaved their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven organization committed to funding research to find cures for childhood cancers. Each year, the foundation hosts head-shaving events where volunteers collect donations and shave their heads for childhood cancer research. St. Baldrick’s raised more than $38 million in 2016 and has currently raised more than $16 million this year.

2017 was Team Lombaldy’s third year participating in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser. In 2015, our team raised more than $45,000 for childhood cancer research. Last year, our total was more than $62,000. After two incredibly successful years of fundraising, our planning committee wasn’t sure what to expect. We prepared ourselves for a lighter participation year and set our goal at $45,000, much lower than the amount we raised last year.

Boy, were we wrong. As of publication, Team Lombaldy has raised $62,655 for childhood cancer research, with more donations still pouring in. Dave Hamilton, our top fundraiser for the third year in a row, has currently raised more than $19,000 and was awarded the first-ever Top Fundraiser Award at the Village of Romeo event.

Team Lombaldy was the top fundraising team at the Village of Romeo event and currently holds the no. 6 spot for all shaving teams throughout the world, with Dave listed as the 15th individual participant worldwide. In addition, Village of Romeo is the fourth-highest shaving event in the world, bringing in more than $248,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation (and still fundraising throughout the year!).
