Home Decorating DIY: How to Make Painted Snowflakes

Creativity & Design

Alyssa C., Lombardo Homes Sales Manager and DIY extraordinaire, contributed to this story.

I love DIY projects, especially holiday-related projects. But really, who has time to create an intricate, life-size gingerbread house? Not me.

That’s why I loved this DIY project. It was quick, simple, and can be used in the home all through the winter. It’s the perfect project for kids, too – they just need an adult to help with the hot glue gun.

Here’s what you need to make painted snowflakes:

  1. Craft/popsicle sticks
  2. Hot glue gun
  3. Acrylic paint in the color of your choice
  4. Sponges for painting

How to make it:

  1. Paint the sticks – lots of them! It takes multiple sticks to make one snowflake.
  2. Set up the design before putting glue on any of the sticks. Get creative and play around with a variety of designs!
  3. Glue the ends of the sticks together with hot glue.
  4. Attach a piece of string to the snowflake with hot glue, then hang the snowflakes in your window, on your banister, or on your Christmas tree.
